The service guarantee period commences from the date on which we confirm that all required repairs have been completed in accordance with AS4084-2023 (Steel storage racking).

Racking purchased in 2022 or earlier that meets the 2012 standards does not need to be replaced. However, if it is reconfigured, moved, or shows signs of fatigue or damage, the racking must comply with the new standards AS 4084-2023.

Most new standards cover engineering and manufacturing for racking, setting technical rules so all racking sold in Australia (and New Zealand) meets safety limits. They cover ductility, structural performance, and deflection limits.
The 2023 standards update the seismic mass coefficient used to calculate earthquake loads on storage racks. AS 4084-2023 specifically applies to selective steel pallet racking and excludes drive-in, cantilever, mobile (including longspan) racking, and shelving. Selective pallet racks must have at least two floor anchors per footplate, sometimes more. The standards also clarify rules for racking used outdoors.

A proper racking inspection should at a minimum take a few hours. Depending on the facility size, the inspection can span multiple days. Costs may range from a few hundred dollars to thousands depending on scale and whether additional height equipment is required.

Informal Inspections are the responsibility of the asset owner and should be conducted on a daily or weekly basis.
Formal Inspections shall be conducted at least every 12 months unless risk assessments require it to be taken more frequently, such as every 6 months.
